In this press release, UK publisher SCi Entertainment announced they’ve ceased all possible buyout talks with various companies. While we’ve known that the publisher was talking to companies about a possible sell, we didn’t know who exactly; speculation included companies like Midway, Ubisoft, EA and Warner Bros.
That’s fine and dandy, but the press release also quietly announced that four games have been delayed; the most significant title to be pushed back was Tomb Raider: Underworld, the next in the series featuring Lady Croft. Previously, the game was slated for release in June 2008, now it’s expected in December 2008. Also the game will be coming to DS, Wii, PS2, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Lastly, SCi revealed that Kane & Lynch: Dead Men has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. Also, Pony Friends sold over 600,000 copies solely for the DS.
The company’s stance on the buyout talks is as followed, "…the Board no longer believes that a sale of the Company for its full value is likely to be achieved at the current time and has reached the view that it is not in the Company’s or its Shareholders’ interests to prolong these discussions further and therefore offer related discussions have been terminated today."
