Microsoft released its second quarter financial earnings and for the second time in a row, Microsoft’s gaming division earned a profit during the quarter. The company’s gaming division earned a profit gain of $357 million, which is up from a loss of $303 million during the same period last year.
Total revenue for the entire company during the last fiscal quarter reached $16.37 billion, which is up from $12.54 billion during the same period last year. Microsoft also reported a profit gain of $4.7 billion, which is up from $2.6 billion last year.
Microsoft went on to mention that Windows Vista sales have surpassed 100 million licenses and reminded everyone that worldwide Xbox 360 sales hit 17.7 million units too.
Chris Liddell, CFO at Microsoft, said, "Revenue of over $16 billion this quarter exceeds our previous record by $2 billion. We are extremely pleased by the broad based strength of our business performance and field execution. Throughout the first half of our fiscal year, all of our businesses met or beat our expectations."
