Hot on the heels of Sony and Nintendo's Q2 financial reports comes a statement from Microsoft. It reported that their gaming division finally turned a profit during this past quarter by earning $1.9 billion.
Sales were attributed to the continual blooming sales of Microsoft's various software products, including Vista, 2007 Microsoft Office, Windows Server and SQL Server. In addition, Halo 3 generated $330 million in revenue for Microsoft during its second quarter.
As for Xbox 360 sales, Microsoft announced they sold over 1.8 million 360 units during its second quarter, which now brings the worldwide sales of the console to 13.4 million units.
Chris Liddell, CFO at Microsoft, said, "This fiscal year is off to an outstanding start with the fastest revenue growth of any first quarter since 1999. Operating income growth of over 30% also reflects our ability to translate revenue into profits while making strategic investments for the future."
Based on these increased figures, Microsoft adjusted their figures for its next quarter: $16.1 billion in revenue, $6.1 billion in operation income and for the fiscal year: $59.7 billion in revenue and $23.7 billion operating income.
Looking good Microsoft!

Wow, finally! Good for them! :)
I don't know how to react to this news... There are so many possible responses, but I can't pick which one to go with!
I'd go with "Halo makes MS moniez."
But it is nice to see the games division having a profitable quarter.
that company is a monster... its so frickin' huge...
but i love it... as long as they keep putting out quality games like they have in the past month and will through next month...
