According to Take-Two Interactive’s recent financial report, Rockstar North’s Grand Theft Auto IV has been delayed into 2008. Originally planned for a release on October 16th, the delay now puts the game sometime between January and March of 2008.
Unfortunately, this is the news that many people didn’t want to hear, considering all the hype and attention GTA IV has been gaining. The main reason of the delay is the necessity of additional development time.
Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar, stated, "The game is huge and is pushing the hardware platforms to their absolute limits. The top engineers from Sony and Microsoft are working closely with the team in Edinburgh right now, helping us to fully leverage the power of both platforms."
In related news, Take-Two announced that Manhunt 2 has been delayed indefinitely. Considering all the controversy surrounding the game, for example Rockstar appealing the ban on Manhunt 2 in the UK, this was an impending action.
