XNA Game Studio has noticed the success Xbox LIVE Indie Games had in 2011, so to ring in the new year they’ve announced some changes to the core system on Xbox LIVE. Thanks to these changes, indie game developers are now able to submit larger games at higher price points, and each developer can submit more titles.
Previously, indie titles were restricted to a size of just 150 MB. They can now be submitted at a maximum size of 500 MB, allowing for longer, more graphically intensive games. This size increase also affects the pricing of Xbox LIVE Indie Games, with the 80 point price now applicable to all games under 150 MB, three times the size of the current 80 point-priced games.
Developers also have been given permission to submit up to twenty titles, double the previous limit of ten. XNA says that this last change is an important one, even though it only affects a few developers.
