In their second quarter financial earnings report, Vivendi Games reported a 91% increase in their revenue, thanks to the continual success of World of Warcraft and its first expansion pack, The Burning Crusade. Just in their second quarter, revenue reached €119 million ($162.67 million).
Unfortunately, Vivendi Games’ parent company, Vivendi SA, was hit hard by continual losses of its other business ventures, including Universal Music and its SFR mobile service. Compared to the same period last year, profits were down 49%.
Jean-Bernard Lévy, chairman of Vivendi’s management board, remained positive, however, about Vivendi SA’s financial growth and that by the end of the year, Vivendi SA will earn €2.7 billion ($3.68 billion) in net income.
"Vivendi demonstrated significant growth in revenues, EBITA, adjusted net income and cash flow generation in the first half of 2007. This proves the effectiveness of a strategy focused on developing and investing in the entertainment industry. By the end of the year, we expect to exceed the record year we had in 2006 and we confirm our outlook for an adjusted net income above €2.7 billion."
