Nintendo has released sales figures for the Wii,s first full week of sales and is reporting that consumers purchased more than 600,000 units in North America after only eight days of availability. In comparison, Sony claimed that it would have 400,000 PS3s available it,s launch, although recent business industry watchers have estimated the total to be far less the announced number of units for release.
Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo North America took the occasion to boast and said, "We’ve shipped retailers several times the amount of hardware the other company was able to deliver for its launch around the same time — and we still sold out."
In related news, the attachment rate for the Wii, or the number of games that are bought with the sale of each Wii was approximately 1.3 games. The biggest seller was The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which sold more than 454,000 copies.
