Nintendo is set to release a new Wii Mini console on December 7, priced at $99.99.
It is currently exclusive only to Canada, with no certain plans for it to be released in other regions. The official Wii Mini webpage stated that the new version of the console offers “family fun at an amazing value” and is “compatible with over 1300 Wii games”, but lacks WiFi support and GameCube compatibility.
A statement by Rob Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice president and general manager, said, “There are games in the Wii library for every type of player. Wii Mini is a great gift for the holidays that brings everyone in the family together to play.”
He added that the newest Wii “has a mini price, but it’s all about big fun” and offers “great value for first-time Wii owners who just want to jump in and experience all the great Wii games that helped usher in a revolution in motion-controlled gaming.”
Plans for a Wii Mini console were outed yesterday by a leaked retail memo, but Nintendo has now released an official product page for the console.
