Hands are sometimes physically cumbersome when playing games, so what better way than using your brain to overcome this instead! While the idea seems awesome and plausible, scientists are a little hesitant on the idea. Who knows though, in a few years, we might get brain games.
Several brain-computer interfaces (BCI) companies claim that the technology can jump to the gaming world next year. But scientists have been against the idea and said that "users’ brains’ might be subject to negative effects."
Niels Birbaumer, a scientist, said, "Imagine that somebody uses a game with slow brain-wave activity and then drives a car while still in that state. You could have an accident. I think it’s a rare possibility, but it should be tested before people do this."
Gaming companies are still split on embracing BCI games. At press time, LucasArts, Activision and Disney didn’t comment if they were using BCI technology, while Capcom and Eidos denied it; THQ is using BCI technology in their FPS Frontlines: Fuel of War.
