It is not often that sports game publishers determine their cover athletes by online vote. Usually it’s all business: closed-doors meetings and rigorous negotiations. For NFL Tour, however, EA Sports has decided to set up a website devoted to the three-man race for the right to grace its cover (and hopefully not have their career go to crap). Now it’s in the hands of the voters.
The candidates are the Miami Dolphins’ Jason Taylor, the Indianapolis Colts’ Dwight Freeney, and the San Diego Chargers’ Shawne Merriman, so head on over to the site to hear what they have to say about why they deserve the honor (and $$$) associated with headlining an EA football game.
Since I’m not much into the NFL, here’s my take (based on the player’s statements on the site):
Jason Taylor sounds the most like a politician, citing reasons why he should be our choice, all while speaking in a clear voice with good diction. Shawne Merriman is all hyped up and proud to be called the "king of the sack" (hear that ladies?). Dwight Freeny just seems like he wants to kick ass. I think I’ll vote for Dwight – I don’t want an ass-kicking.
