After months of beta testing, EA Mythic finally released Ultima Online: Kingdom Reborn today. As you can judge from the title, Kingdom Reborn is a graphical and gameplay update to Ultima Online — the game that is credited with starting the MMORPG genre back in 1997.
Among gameplay updates, Kingdom Reborn offers improved visuals, a brand-new user interface, hot keys, a new macro system, a scrolling bag configuration and a new character sheet. While current UO subscribers can nab the free update from UO.com, there’s a 14-day trial for perspective newcomers located here. Note you’ll need a credit card to subscribe to the "free" trial.
Mark Jacobs, Vice President and General Manager of EA Mythic, said, "As the tenth anniversary of Ultima Online’s launch approaches, Kingdom Reborn introduces an entirely new experience while preserving the spirit of the classic MMO. Kingdom Reborn represents EA’s ongoing commitment to MMOs and Ultima Online’s dedicated and loyal community, some of whom have been playing the game since its launch almost ten years ago."
