According to The Sun Online, jails all across the UK are banning prisoners from using game consoles for entertainment purposes. The reason is not due to high score disputes, but because the jail guards think prisoners might use the macnines to transmit plans and plot deviant tactics.
Specifically, the report called for a ban on Xbox 360s, PS3s and Nintendo DS systems in jail. This report is on the heels of a previous report saying PS2s, which are allowed in jails, might "be modified for covert chats". So PS2s could also be banned if the guards see it fit.
The report said, "The technology in the new generation of computer games makes them a security risk. There is concern that top terror suspects have been using systems already in jails. Radio software is an integral part of the equipment."
Hopefully this doesn’t lead to all game consoles, or even all forms of technology, getting tossed out from jails.
