In the past week or so numerous leaks and rumors regarding Assassin’s Creed III have been circulating, but now Ubisoft has officially addressed the upcoming title, including some interesting new details.
As evidenced by recent images, Assassin’s Creed III takes place during the American Revolution. Ratohnhaké:ton is the game’s new protagonist, a man of Native American and English descent. Luckily for gamers he’s also known by the name Connor.
The latest entry in the franchise will be powered by a brand new game engine titled Ubisoft-AnvilNext. This technology will allow for improved character models and artificial intelligence.
An October 30 release date was revealed last month, but the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC were the only assumed platforms. Now it turns out that the game is also headed to the Wii U.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot talked about how Assassin’s Creed III will appeal to fans and newcomers alike.
“Assassin’s Creed III features the franchise’s most expansive setting so far, along with an exciting new hero and exponentially more gameplay,” he said. “Whether you’re a longtime fan of Assassin’s Creed or if you’re new to the franchise, you’re going to be blown away by the scale and marvel of Assassin’s Creed III.”
The company seems committed to making the best entry in the franchise yet, stating that Assassin’s Creed III has been in development for over three years. In addition, a total of seven Ubisoft studios have had a part in creating the game.
More information will be revealed in the April issue of Game Informer magazine. In the meantime, fans can take a look at the first Assassin’s Creed III trailer below.
