Turbine, creators of Dungeons & Dragons Online, announced today the release of the new Twilight Forge module. This marks the second free expansion to the title since its launch this past spring. The module features a new storyline consisting of a series of adventures and ending in an epic encounter against the Warforged Titan. The module also includes the new playable drow race, as well as more quests, an in-game mail system, and other interface improvements.
President and CEO of Turbine Jeffrey Anderson said, “The Twilight Forge module introduces a tremendous amount of new content to DDO-the drow, new dungeons and enhanced tools to improve the overall player experience. With the launch of this module, we have increased the size of DDO by over 25 percent since launch and added many innovative features.”
Despite the long-awaited module, Turbine has yet to increase the level cap of characters, leaving the original cap of 10. This, on top of the numerous server crashes, roll backs, and persistent bugs have made many players less than enthused about these seemingly lackluster module updates. The game,s official forums are alight with angry posts describing the inability to create the new characters, broken mailboxes, or missing interface options.
Another topic on the forums is the sticky details involved with the new drow race. What many players do not realize is that one must unlock the ability to create a drow character; furthermore, every server must be unlocked separately. A long-awaited update,s most anticipated feature may have been best left unrestricted, but time will tell how the majority of DDO,s gamers feel about the update.
