Lara Croft is without a doubt, one of the few video game industry icons who’s truly recognizable by anyone who hasn’t been residing under a rock within the last decade.
While Core created the pistol firing, thrill seeking heroine on Playstation all those years ago, her creators were unable to succeed in making any solid installments featuring its adored superstar.
Fortunately, in a wise decision made by series publisher and intellectual property owner (Eidos), the baton was passed on to Crystal Dynamics. The developer breathed new life into the series with the release of Tomb Raider: Legend, which helped it meet the standards set by modern day action titles.
After succeeding in making Tomb Raider relevant once again, Crystal Dynamics revisited the first title in the series and delivered the original experience to a whole new generation of gamers with appealing visuals and gameplay enhancements in Tomb Raider Anniversary.
While the game was originally available only on PlayStation 2 and PC, Eidos announced today that the game will be distributed in disk and online over Xbox Live.
You might be thinking, "How would they cram a game like that within Microsoft’s limits for a downloadable title?"
Well, in order to actually get the game via Live, you must first be in possession of Tomb Raider: Legend, which features the same exact engine that powers TRA. Using that title, players will be able to play the game by downloading two packs that feature two missions each.
Unfortunately, if you plan on acquiring the game digitally, you’ll have to wait two months. However, if you plan on playing the game on a disc, you’ll be able to pick it up next week.
