Della Rocca, the executive director of the International Game Developers Association, voiced comments shortly after Jack Thompson made the unproven assertion that violent video games was the cause of the tragic shooting incidents at Virginia Tech. Rocca said, "It’s so sad. These massacre chasers — they’re worse than ambulance chasers — they’re waiting for these things to happen so they can jump on their soapbox."
Thompson, obviously agitated at the comments, said that Rocca was a "jackass" and an "idiot." As usual, Mr. Thompson has provided us with another glimpse inside the brilliant and non-biased mind regarding those who oppose his views. But for a full dose of Thompson’s rant, check out this video on YouTube for the caustic remarks.
While everyone is entitled to their opinion, Thompson has time and again used highly charged rhetoric and emotional rants in order to support his viewpoint against violence in video games. His underlying motivation, of course, is to censor and eliminate these types of games entirely. But if he is successful in doing this, can the censorship of books and other media be far away?
