Hands down, the biggest release this week is Halo 3, but I’m sure everyone out there has been punched in the face numerous times with Halo 3-related news, so I’m going to focus on other notable games for the week instead. My apologies to the Halo fans but, hey, there are other games in the playing field.
For example, Relic’s first standalone expansion pack for their awesome RTS Company of Heroes is heading to stores this week. Called Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, the pack will include the German Panzer Elite and British 2nd Army (with appropriate command trees, new units and abilities) along with new maps and graphical updates. I played the multiplayer beta for a little while; despite getting annihilated, it was awesome fun.
Also The Settlers: Rise of an Empire and Loki are being released this week in the U.S. This will be the 6th iteration in The Settlers series and the visuals are getting a big tune-up along with AI enhancements. As for Loki, it’s a rather straight-forward hack n’ slash with leveled environments and decent visuals. But without further ado, here are this week’s game releases:
