While The Simpsons Movie made its debut on the big screen across theaters worldwide a month ago, Fox is already in the process of prepping the film for home video in only DVD and Blu-Ray format this December according to Blu-ray.com.
That’s right, ladies and gentleman: an HD-DVD version featuring Homer and the citizens of Springfield is not currently planned for release.
While many were quick to claim that Sony’s capacity friendly format would quickly spiral into a horrid demise, the company has been receiving some serious support from various motion picture companies over the course of Blu-Ray’s availability.
Considering the fact that the PS3 is currently the cheapest Blu-Ray player on the market and the only method of viewing the animated hit in true high definition is through Sony’s aforementioned format, it seems likely that this holiday season will not only bode well for Fox, but for Sony as well.
