Ubisoft is breaking out the champagne because its full year business estimates have been raised. The reason why? They’ve racked up very strong sales of their hit title, Assassin’s Creed.
But that’s just half of the good news to hit the game publisher. Ubisoft says Assassin’s Creed has become the fastest selling new video game in US history. Total sales of the game reached 2.5 million sales worldwide in less than four weeks. Interestingly enough, no mention of actual figures were reported on the US numbers.
Of course, the fastest selling game doesn’t necessarily mean the biggest selling game. While more units can fly out the doors of retail stores faster than previous games, the accumulated sales of Assassin’s Creed, in the long run, is the real determiner as far as the sales success of the title.
Get ready for the other game companies (and gamers) to refute Ubisoft’s claim that AC is the fastest selling new video game title in the US.
