Zenimax Online has announced The Elder Scrolls Online, the first MMO in the Elder Scrolls franchise. The game will take place approximately one thousand years before the events in Skyrim, as the daedric prince Molag Bol attempts to take over Tamriel. Players will be questing all across Tamriel, visiting familiar locations like the Imperial City in Cyrodiil, Hammerfell, and Skyrim‘s Riften and Windhelm.
The upcoming release is Game Informer’s June cover story, and NeoGAF poster Nirolak has already received his copy. According to the article, The Elder Scrolls Online will feature full voice-acting, dynamic quests with branching paths and optional sub-missions, and three unique factions with their own exclusive content. Trying to find a balance between traditional MMOs and Elder Scrolls mechanics, the game will implement a hotkey skill bar and be played entirely in third-person perspective.
Game Informer’s cover story has even more details, and GI will be trickling new information online over the next week or so. Until then, you can check out the official teaser trailer below. You may also want to start planning out your hilarious username, like “D0v4hkiin897” or “arro2daknee2002,” for when the game launches on Mac and PC next year.
