The Behemoth, developers of the Xbox Live hits Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers, has just announced the title for their next game, called Battleblock Theater, as well as released a trailer and some story details. Here’s the basic premise of the game:
"Having shipwrecked on a mysterious island you find yourself both betrayed by your best friend Hatty and captured by the locals. All of this is happening while being forced into deadly performances. This however, is just the start of your problems."
The trailer pretty much says it all, but it appears that Battleblock Theater will be taking on the platforming genre with the multi-layer, expressive cartoon graphics and character designs of Castle Crashers. Also, co-op does seem to be a crucial part of gameplay, but more details regarding actual multiplayer options are sure to come.
As of yet, Battleblock Theater has no release date; The Behemoth’s website has the game slated for release in 2010.
