Take-Two Interactive announced the results for its first quarter of the fiscal year 2013, which ended on June 30. Various titles were mentioned in the report, but the most intriguing sales numbers belonged to Max Payne 3.
Since its release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC back in May, Max Payne 3 has shipped a total of three million units.
According to Take-Two Chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick, disappointing sales for both Max Payne 3 and Spec Ops: The Line contributed to some less-than-ideal first quarter results, though he was quick to highlight the company’s upcoming lineup for the rest of the fiscal year.
“Although our first quarter results were below expectations due to lower-than-anticipated sales of Spec Ops: The Line and Max Payne 3, the outlook for our slate of upcoming releases is stronger than ever,” he said. “Early consumer enthusiasm suggests robust demand for our extraordinary lineup of upcoming releases, particularly Borderlands 2, NBA 2K13 and BioShock Infinite. We continue to expect fiscal 2013 to be one of the best years in Take-Two’s history.”
Those are some highly anticipated titles that Zelnick mentioned, so perhaps Take-Two will in fact come out on top by the end of the fiscal year. Only time will tell at this point.
