Take-Two closes doors of NY studio. Big $$$ losses

T2LogoIn an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, 2K Games’ Public Relations Advisor, Ed Nebb, revealed that Take-Two Interactive will be closing down the New York office of 2K Games.

This move is part of a plan to reorganize its business following the heavy financial losses the company faced a month ago–over $60 million in losses.

Along with shutting down the NY studio, Take-Two had to cancel some early in-development game projects plus some restructuring of their staff.

No major game titles were canceled though —All-Pro Football 2K8, Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Manhunt 2, The BIGS and The Darkness are all set for release in a few months. Followed by BioShock, Carnival Games, GTA IV, NBA 2K8 and NHL 2K8 by the end of this year.

Nebb stated, "We have reduced the publishing staff connection with the reorganisation, although we have not disclosed the final number of positions affected. It’s important to note that the goal of the reorganisation is not merely cost-efficiency, but about allowing Take-Two to do what it does best – create great, best-selling games."
