According to a post on Schnittberichte.com, Midway’s over-the-top third-person shooter, Stranglehold, has been banned in Germany due to excessive violence.
While this is no surprise, since Germany has been either severely toning down violent games or outright banning them for years, this will surely deprive eager German players from a fine third-person-shooter game.
The story notes that Germany specifically banned the Xbox 360 version of the game, but I imagine that once the PC and PS3 versions debut in Germany, they’ll be promptly banned too.
In fact, Stranglehold already went through a heavy editing regime to trim down the violence and blood, but it looks like the efforts weren’t enough in the long run for German audiences. Bummer.
