Shacknews reports that the anticipated Communities beta test set to be released on Steam today has been delayed for one week due to technical issues.
“According to Valve’s official developer site, the beta for The Steam Community was planned to launch today but has received a slight delay,” reported Shacknews earlier today, “The service was originally marked for release in late July.”
The Steam Community promises to provide a wealth of new interaction features for Steam accounts. User profiles, groups, voice chat, tracking an opponent’s progress, and prearranged matches are just some of the options Steam owners can look forward to during the weeks to come.
With such a strong online following, Steam is shaping up to be the best competitor to Microsoft’s Xbox Live service.
The beta is open to all Steam users once it is finally released.
