Sweden-based developer Starbreeze Studios is working on a secret project with EA. Under the code name Project RedLime, the secret game will be based with a classic EA franchise. But the question is which one?
I primarily know Starbreeze Studios for its work on The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher’s Bay, while more recent console gamers would know the developer for The Darkness. Since Starbreeze Studios has plenty of experience in FPS action games, maybe it could be System Shock 3. But my System Shock fanboy mind is imaging too much. Let the following quotes roll around in your head though.
There’s also speculation that EA might resurrect Road Rash, which you can read about here. Don’t forget, EA already has two successful racing franchises in the gaming market, Burnout and Need for Speed, so maybe a resurrection of another old racing franchise is ready.
Johan Kristiansson, CEO of Starbreeze Studios, said, "EA Partners gives independent developers like Starbreeze access to EA’s unrivaled global publishing infrastructure, letting us focus our energy on what we do best – making incredible games. We’re already deep in development on Project RedLime and the team at EA is giving us the time we need to perfect our vision. We’re excited to bring a new perspective and gameplay innovation to this beloved fiction."
David DeMartini, vice president of EA Partners, said, "Starbreeze’s pedigree is undisputed and we could not be happier to welcome them to the EA Partners family. The team is creating an incredibly innovative take on a classic property and EA Partners is poised to deliver a blockbuster launch on the global stage."
