Nearly every Japanese publisher has released an Xbox 360 game in one form or another but some hometown Japan support is what the Xbox 360 has been missing.
In Square Enix’s case though, being a world-reknowned game publisher may give the Xbox 360 some much needed life support in the land of the rising sun.
GamePro is reporting that Square Enix has finally embraced the Xbox 360 and will release its first game for the console sometime in 2008. Titled Infinite Undiscovery, the game will be a traditional JRPG and will utilize a real-time combat system. Other than that though, not much is known about the game.
Hajime Kojima, Square Enix producer, said, "We are working to ramp up the action and create a dynamic, compelling next-generation RPG."
Since its debut, the Xbox 360 hasn’t sold particularly well in Japan, so for a major Japanese publisher like "SqueeNix" to release a game on the console may give some interest back into the public’s eye. Here’s a screenshot from Infinite Undiscovery:
