Namco Bandai Games announced SoulCalibur IV today and it’ll be heading to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A brief, non-gameplay, teaser trailer was attached to the announcement too.
Soul Calibur IV will be the latest game in the series to head to more than one platform, since Soul Calibur III was only released for the PlayStation 2. The game will be out in 2008.
The very brief teaser trailer says, "Transcending history and the world, a tale of souls and swords, eternally retold," and then cuts to a shot of the two swords: Soulcalibur and Soul Edge.
Next, "The story of these two awakened swords," and then cuts to posing shots of Ivy (with a ridiculously low-cut outfit and her "massive enhancements") and Mitsurugi. Afterwards, "…and the warriors that have been drawn to them," and it cuts to a shot of Nightmare.
And then, "…slowly heads towards its inevitable conclusion." and Soul Calibur IV appears on the screen.
Makoto Iwai, Executive Vice President of Namco Bandai, stated, "Soulcalibur has been a cornerstone franchise for Namco Bandai Games and this latest edition will build upon its legacy of groundbreaking fighting experiences. With Soulcalibur IV, long-time fans and newcomers to the franchise will be amazed by its visual beauty and intense, pulse pounding weapon combat."
