Within days of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announcing that it will release a new PS2 slimline in the color pink, comes word that they will also debut a pink PSP in the forth quarter of 2006. The newly refaced PSP will come with white headphones, a 32MB memory stick duo, a white pouch with wrist strap and an UMD from singer Pink (who else?).
As to why Sony Europe is on a pink rampage with its slimline PS2 and PSP, Stephanie Hareau, senior brand manager for Sony Europe said, "The Pink PSP launch is much more than just launching a new color. It is about a confident and powerful attitude for young women. The association with Pink, a worldwide icon and musical chameleon, will enable PSP to push new boundaries."
In as far as new boundaries are concerned, it is hoped that new PSP game software, outside of shooters and other male-oriented titles, will be developed for the other half of our gaming community. In related news, Nintendo has also announced their plans to release a pink DS Lite at the end of October.
