Gamers looking to release their Dragoon Spirit won’t need to hold onto their scratched up PSone discs any longer. According to The Playstation Blog, The Legend of Dragoon will be available on PSN as early as May 1st.
While fans have long been raising Hell for a sequel, Sony has done the next best thing by releasing this Japanese RPG for a mere… well we don’t know how much the download will cost, but whatever it is it’ll be worth it.
If you haven’t played The Legend of Dragoon, the game is an epic story of Dart, a man who inherits a necklace that turns out to be a Dragoon Spirit. Using this spirit, Dart (and his comrades) can summon dragons to use in battle. The game featured a great “Additions” combat system that helped bring fun and frustration to the normally bland JRPG turn-based combat by introducing on-screen button prompts, much like the later God of War franchise. Praised for its gorgeous cutscenes, the game also boasted an engaging enough storyline, but received lukewarm reviews at the time of its release.
This re-release is sure to be a PSN top seller, and may reinvigorate the team to give the sequel a second try.
