Sony Online Entertainment has announced plans to establish a new studio in India. In addition to localizing projects, the studio will produce content specific to the region.
The studio is expected to be located in the city of Bangalore, and will be funded not only by Sony Online Entertainment, but also by its prospective partners in the venture. Those partners will also some of the talent necessary to produce online games.
The company’s expansion into India is most likely a result of the large online gaming community in the nation, which is estimated at 2.8 million gamers. I’m sure SOE hopes to see that number grow in the future.
