In a statement released today by Zipper Interactive on their SOCOM online blog, the developer confirmed reports that their upcoming PlayStation 3 shooter SOCOM 4 will be getting delayed into 2011.
"Some of you may have heard through your favorite media outlets that SOCOM 4 is now a 2011 title, and we are writing this letter to you, our community, to confirm that SOCOM 4 is indeed scheduled for release in 2011," wrote senior community manager Jeremy Dunham in the statement.
The game was originally set to be one of the big titles coming to the PS3 with the PlayStation Move this fall as the game featured heavy Move support. It was even on display in playable form at E3, but it seems that Zipper still needs more time to work on the game.
"While we’re certainly aware that you’ve been looking forward to playing SOCOM 4 this year, we don’t want to take any shortcuts," typed Dunham. "Instead, we want to deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game we possibly can and we’re going to use our extra time to do just that."
Dunham did not state exactly when in 2011 SOCOM 4 would be arriving, but announced that future updates on the game’s release date will be posted on the official SOCOM 4 blog.
