The highly respected business publication and industry presence, Barron’s, has published its list of the top 30 CEOs. Satoru Iwata of Nintendo has made the list — an impressive feat considering he is the only representative from the games industry to appear in the feature.
Taking the reigns from the notorious Hirochi Yamauchi six years ago, Iwata has grown the business into its current state, image, and quality. It comes as no surprise to see this man on Barron’s list. Actually, if you think about it, what consumer product in any field was as successful as the DS was last year? Or as hyped as the Wii? Nintendo’s stock has grown considerably in the last 12 months, and for a company like the big N — one that receives a great deal of criticism from its own industry for making oddball and seemingly aloof decisions — it is even more impressive.
