A little sleuthing has revealed that Eidos Interactive has trademarked the name Tomb Raider Underworld. Scuttlebutt has it that this maybe the next game in the TR series.
What will it be about? Rumors are floating around that the next Lara Croft adventure maybe centered on the Mayan Calendar where events take place during a special five day period where the land of the living and the land of the dead opens up.
Of course, our heroine will be busy dispatching all sorts of evil beings that try to take over our world.
Interestingly enough, Eidos also released a game during the original PlayStation that also dealt with the spiritual underworld–Fear Effect. In this game, mercenaries go to the netherworld and have at it with demonic figures and supernatural beings while trying to save the kidnapped daughter of a rich businessman.
Perhaps we’ll see Lara there too? Time will tell.
