After years of complaints about the 360 controller’s D-Pad, Microsoft has finally answered gamers’ cries and developed a sleek, new version of the controller. The revised model comes in matte silver, and has a transforming D-Pad as well as silver face buttons. On his blog, Microsoft’s Larry Hryb (AKA Major Nelson) details through video how the restructured D-Pad actually morphs from the flat disc shape we’ve grown accustomed to, to a more traditional "plus-sign" shape. By twisting the D-Pad nub, the plus-sign raises or lowers to suit the player’s preference. Nifty, eh?
Check out some up-close images of the new design below. Expect to see the remodeled controller and Play & Charge Kit in stores on November 9th for $64.99 USD.
