An uncut remake of Painkiller is coming to PC on October 31. Publisher Nordic Games has announced that a less gory version of the remake will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on January 22, 2013.
For gamers that have never heard of Painkiller, the story revolves around a man who gets stuck in Purgatory; and in order to become pure after having died, he needs to fight his way out of Hell and prevent a war between it and Heaven.
Painkiller: Hell & Damnation is a remake of People Can Fly’s 2004 first-person shooter Painkiller. It is being developed by The Farm 51, and will use the Unreal Engine 3 by Epic Games.
On PC, the remake will be available in two versions: a regular $20 version and a $30 collector’s edition, which includes stickers, postcards, an art book, soundtrack, making-of DVD, in-game tarot card, and multiplayer skin.
The game will be available for retail at $30 on the PS3 and Xbox 360, but there was no mention of a collector’s edition for consoles.
