Red Faction: Armageddon came out just last month, but the game’s poor sales have led THQ to make a tough decision.
During an investor call earlier today, the company’s CEO Brian Farrell explained that the franchise will likely end since it is not reaching a wide enough audience.
"Given that that title, now in two successive versions, has just found a niche, we do not intend to carry forward with that franchise in any meaningful way," he said.
This news must come as a big disappointment considering THQ’s efforts to hype the franchise. In addition to Armageddon, a promotional spin-off and SyFy original movie were created this year.
Farrell did not blame the development team at Volition, Inc. though, saying they are "talented." The studio is finishing up work on Saints Row: The Third, and then it will move on to Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming project, inSANE.
