Rayman Legends developer protests delay

Rayman Legends developer

Last week Ubisoft announced its decision to delay Rayman Legends until September to coincide with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the upcoming platformer. The news sparked outrage among series fans and Wii U owners, but those aren’t the only groups bothered by the delay.

Rayman creator Michel Ancel and members of the development team behind Rayman Legends have posted a series of images protesting Ubisoft’s decision to delay the game for further console releases. The photos include a poster of Rayman crying while he exclaims “SVP” in a speech bubble.

The poster also features a couple of notable sentences: “Sortez nous Rayman. Soutient a Ubi Montpellier.” This translates to, “Release Rayman. Support Ubisoft Montpellier.”

Ubisoft has yet to respond to the images, but the company did try to appease fans earlier this week by promising an exclusive Wii U demo for the title. It should be interesting to see how Ubisoft tries to reconcile with developer Ubisoft Montpellier in the coming weeks.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
