It was recently revealed that Valve is planning DLC for Portal 2 this summer. Now the company has released more details regarding the announcement.
Titled Portal 2 "DLC #1", the new downloadable content will include "new test chambers for players, leaderboards, challenge mode for single and multiplayer modes, and more." It was not specified whether those new test chambers will be for single-player and/or multiplayer, and the company has not commented on any new narrative elements.
That seems like it could be a sizable chunk of content, but perhaps the best news is that the DLC will be completely free across all platforms: PlayStation 3, PC, Mac, and Xbox 360. The inclusion of the Xbox 360 is especially surprising considering Valve and Microsoft have had problems in the past with free post-release content (most notably with Team Fortress 2).
It looks like Valve is giving fans a good reason to keep their copies of Portal 2 close by so they can start playing it again this summer. And hopefully the mention of "DLC #1" means more content will be coming later this year.
