On the latest episode of “Pokemon Smash,” Japan’s official Pokemon TV show, Nintendo announced Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2. The upcoming DS games will be available in Japan this June, with North America and European releases coming this fall.
While a sequel isn’t exactly new for traditional Pokemon games (Gold/Silver being a direct sequel to Red/Blue) Black/White Version 2 marks the first numbered sequel in traditional Pokemon history. This also breaks the trend set by Yellow of a third, enhanced game for each generation.
Nintendo also revealed new versions of the legendary Pokemon Kyurem, dubbed Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. Fans of Black/White may recognize the new Pokemon; a short glimpse can be seen during the end credits.
