The first game announced for the PlayStation 4 during Sony’s big event earlier today was Knack, an exclusive new IP from developer SCE Japan Studio. The third-person action game is being directed by Mark Cerny, who also serves as the PS4’s lead design architect.
Knack‘s protagonist is the title character, a small robot who can morph into much larger forms by collecting objects in the game’s world. The reveal trailer showed off vibrant visuals and a few brief moments of combat.
Also revealed was the foundation for the game’s story, which deals with a struggle between humans and seemingly evil goblins. Knack is created by human scientists in an effort to create an advantage for the impending battles.
Cerny’s involvement with the project means the inclusion of special PS4 features, including the stream/share technology and remote play. The latter was highlighted during the demonstration when Cerny started playing Knack on the PlayStation Vita.
