Most of the gaming community is aware of the banter between Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo in trying to get an edge in convincing consumers to select their respective game consoles. Peter Moore has made it known that he is less than impressed with the competition,s hardware.
In some rather surprising words made in a discussion group held at Electronic Arts, and recorded by Gametag Radio, Moore expressed his dislike of the Wii,s controller by offering a novel explanation-it,s too complicated. Considering that Moore is part of a company that has produced Microsoft Windows, it is hard to imagine these words coming out of a Big M executive.
Moore commented on the increasing complexity of game controllers today by saying, "…shoulder buttons, triggers, analog sticks, d-pads, I mean, there’s a lot going on there when you compare it to the old Atari 2600 button-and-stick, which everybody could pick up and have some fun with. Clearly, I think that the Wii is trying to get back to those days, although when I picked it up, I was surprised how much stuff…is on there, and it took me a while even then to get going on those things.”
It is doubtful that gamers will ever go back to the days of the one button–one joystick controllers, but as games become more complex, Moore may have to spend some more time away from his desk and more time with his game consoles in order to keep up with everything.
