Steve Jobs, in his usual way, announced that there was just “one more thing” to be announced at the keynote address at MacWorld. The widely speculated partnership between Apple and Intel, which scheduled to begin production in June of 2006, was 6 months ahead of schedule and the first set of Imac’s are about ready to be shipped. The partnership between Apple and Intel has already put a scare into Microsoft, who already has said it will continue its production of Microsoft Office for Macintosh, but has taken it’s Windows Media Player out of availability for the Mac. The intel processors which will feature the new dual core (yes, think about it… apple… core…. apple-core) chips have already led to speculation that you will be able to dual boot both Windows and OS X on the same machine. But Apple is insisting that is going to continue to use EFI or BIOS as it’s standard for CMOS, thus negating the ability for a dual-boot system. Stay tuned to Gamernode.com to see if Apple turns to BIOS as the standard.
