Old school PC gaming site hopes to make it big

earthworm jimWith the global economy going through one of the most profound downturns in recent memory, some gamers are looking for ways to save money on games due to the financial crunch.

For the PC crowd, a new online game service, Good Old Games, is trying to fill this need. The site is specializing in classic PC titles such as Earthworm Jim, Gothic, the original Fallout, Freespace, and others.

The games range in price from $6-$10 a pop and are completely DRM free. GOG.com also furnishes nice little community components for its users too.

Tom Ohle, a rep from GOG said, "Our goal here is really just to build up the best collection of classic PC games and to build up a great community around that. That’s our focus for now."

The GOG community is made up of old school PC game fans and people who missed out on the earlier PC games. GOG.com’s early access beta recorded "tens of thousands" of users logging onto the site.

It is expected that GOG’s library of games will expand to about 50 in the coming weeks during its beta. So if you are one of those who didn’t catch the wave of these original PC games, here’s your chance to try out a few at GOG.
