Last week, we reported the NPD Group would be reducing their monthly public game data sales reports and the community surely went ape over the decision.
But after some talks and feedback, the NPD Group announced today they would be reinstating their normal data policy and the free monthly public reports will resume once again.
NPD Group’s David Riley admitted to Next Generation in an e-mail saying the decision was a mistake and "it was terribly naive of me to think that we could simply stop providing these after giving them freely for a year." He also stated that nothing was going to change with their policy.
"Nothing is going to change. All will remain the same… The ‘Big Three’ [Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony] are on board, so we’ll be providing these figures indefinitely."
For gamers who are interested in sales figures and trends, then this is good news for you.
