Will Xbox 360 owners be able to get some Final Fantasy action in the future? While Final Fantasy XI was released for the Xbox 360 back in April 2006, it’s not looking too good for future FF titles.
When Japan’s Nikkei BP asked if there would be upcoming Wii or 360 FF titles, Square Enix’s Shinjii Hashimoto said, "For the Wii, we have FF Crystal Chronicles [The Crystal Bearers] in production. As for FF on the Xbox 360, it’s currently a completely blank page."
Yikes. Now depending on whether you’re an optimist (the glass is half full) or a pessimist (the glass is half empty), "blank page" could mean something good or bad. One thing though, it doesn’t entirely rule out the possibility of a future FF title on the Xbox 360.
Square Enix is still embracing the Xbox 360 though; last month, it announced The Last Remnant, an Unreal Engine 3 powered RPG for the 360 and PS3. So if the game does well, maybe Square Enix may consider a FF title for the 360 after all.
