Who would have thought Uwe Boll’s latest movie "In the Name of the King" would flop commercially? The $70 million "fantasy epic" earned just $3 million in its first weekend. Whoops. (Obviously it flopped critically; a 3% on Rotten Tomatoes, and even Peter Travers had nothing good to say.)
Of course, Oo-vay is no stranger to his films bombing. What makes this news better is that as of now, the German tax shelter funds he had been using to make money even on flops have been banned in Germany. What’s that mean? No more big budget films for our favorite director.
Boll wouldn’t be Boll without a hefty dose of Bollsh*t, though. "In the future, I will focus on small films such as (the video game adaptation) ‘Postal’ or (the Vietnam war drama) ‘Tunnel Rats,’ " he said. "These are films that represent my true passion, and they can be done with small budgets."
