Thanks to Unterhaltungs software Selbstkontrolle (USK), German gamers will miss out on a second high profile Xbox 360 title this year. The ratings board has refused to rate Epic Games’ upcoming release, Gears of War, citing its high level of graphic violence. Consequently, Microsoft has announced that it will act in compliance with the USK’s decision and not publish the game in that region.
While this doesn’t mean that the game itself is actually banned, it does make the game quite difficult to purchase, since unrated games are not displayed on store shelves or sent through the mail. That makes buying it outside of the country the only option left for most gamers. The game is still set to release in the UK on November 17, 2006.
