The Tokyo Game Show and Nintendo aren’t usually mentioned in the same breath because of the company’s longstanding policy of not having a booth during the large game industry event. But things are changing as Mario and Company have decided to make their first appearance at the convention since 2001.
Kotaku says, "Multiple, highly placed insiders confirm that [Nintendo] will be in attendance [at the 2007 Tokyo Game Show], which is one of the reasons why TGS is four days this year instead of three."
Why is Nintendo attending this year after such a long absence? Industry watchers believe that the huge success of the DS and Wii is partially responsible for the company’s new outlook on things. Nintendo is riding on an enormous wave of popularity and is most likely making an effort to be more approachable to the game industry and third party publishers to enhance public and business relations.
