Nikkei Business Publication Tech-On reported today that Nintendo’s sales are soaring, and they show no signs of slowing down. Both sales and income for the April-June 2006 quarter are up, with sales soaring 85.2% year-on-year and operating income up 667.1% from the less than stellar numbers reported last year.
Specifically, the DS Lite sold 4.54 million units in the three-month period between April and June. As reported earlier, New Super Mario Bros reached a high of 3.82 million titles, while the Touch! Generations series sales are climbing steadily, with both Train Your Brain titles reaching about 6.6 million titles as of the end of June 2006. Nintendo expects to sell 17 million DS Lite consoles by the end of the term (March 2007).
